My motivations:
You never think you will hear the words... "your child has cancer". The gut wrenching feeling to those words is nothing compared to what follows. I don't think we can possibly understand all of the things that children go through with cancer. The physcial and mental toll on them and the entire family.
Ask yourself "Do I know anyone who has had cancer?" Then imagine if that person is a child? This is personal for me, for my friends and for so many of you. Donating helps the kids at CHEO and their families navigate this rotten and unfair diagnoses.
We are lucky to have CHEO in our own backyard. The quality of care comes hand and hand with compassion and experience. I have never seen a team who integrates joy and the art of play into their treatment like the Oncology team at CHEO. They are the frontline heroes who stand shoulder to shoulder with the kids, mom, dad, brothers, sisters and grandparents. Let's not forget the aunts, uncles and many friends who make up a support team for a child with cancer.
Here is the thing......because of research we can provide better care and better outcomes for these kids. There is hope. A LOT OF HOPE. This is what I will be thinking about on the hills and pathways during 24H Tremblant on the weekend of December 10th! The hope and what role that we all played. Join me - join a team, make a donation and bring a voice to this important mission.
