When my friend Emma asked me to join the team 'Fight Like a Girl', I couldn't say no. That's because Emma fights for her children, Aislinn and Tait, every single day. Aislinn and Tait were born with an ultra rare genetic condition that is robbing them of their ability to move, speak, talk and breathe. They require around the clock total care which Emma has so gracefully and selflessly provided. And when their needs exceed what can be provided for at home (or when Emma needs some respite for herself), community services like Roger's House are there to help.
Roger Neilson House provides respite, medical care and end of life support to Emma's family and countless more who's children face life-limiting conditions.
I know what an important place Roger's House is to Emma and her family, and it's because of generous support from charity organizations like the Sens Foundation and donations from people just like you that these services are available to so many women and their families.
Our team is called 'Fight Like a Girl' because we want to honour all the mothers who are out ther fighting for their kids, and in doing so, make such a difference in the lives of so many.
I hope you will help me Fight Like a Girl through this 24 h marathon. Thanks.
